UBC 입학 FAQ

How UBC Calculates your average

UBC uses a weighted average. To calculate your average:

1) Take the percentage grade you get in a course and multiply it by the number of credits in that course.

2) Do this for each course, add them together and then divide this number by the total number of credits taken.

For example:  If you received a 78% mark in a 3 credit course and you received a 58% mark in a 6 credit course, your weighted GPA would be 64.67.  (78 x 3) + (58 x 6) / 9 = 64.67.

Every year, UBC sets new admission cut-offs for its undergraduate programs that are based on the following:

  • number of spaces available
  • number of applicants
  • quality of the applicant pool for that particular year

Applicants to UBC are encouraged to do their best in their current program of studies in order to present as competitive grades as possible

What does “Approved Grade 12 courses” mean?

Other than the exams needed to graduate from high school, applicants to UBC are not required to write the BC Provincial Exams. BC Provincial Exam grades, including exams for English 12 or English 12 First Peoples, will be included in the admission decision only if they increase your admission average.
